2017 Canberra Times Fun Run

Sunday, 3 September

Set to attract over 5,000 runners, the Canberra Times Fun Run is back for its 42nd year, on Sunday, September 3rd. Aiming to raise $125,000 in funds for hundreds of various charities, including the Cure Brain Cancer Foundation, BeyondBlue and the Cerebral Palsy Alliance. People of all fitness levels are encouraged to sign up for the event, with three options of course available on the day, the 5km, 10km or 14km, all equally scenic, with views of the Parliamentary Triangle and Lake Burley Griffin.

Floriade

16 September - 15 October, Commonwealth Park

Think you’ve seen it all before? Think again. In celebration of its 30th year, Floriade 2017 is set to be the biggest and best version of itself thus far. With the addition of a twilight concert, sculptural surprises throughout the festival, a dog’s day out (free photo booth, Pooch cafe, awards for best-dressed dog!) and extended Nightfest hours, Floriade is set to really wow. Of course, you can expect the usual Floriade experiences, including the markets, Floral Emporium, kids activities, live performances and more.

Floriade Nightfest

22 - 24 September and 29 September - 1 October, Commonwealth Park

For the first time, Floriade Nightfest takes over two weekends, from the Friday, September 22nd to Sunday, September 24th and Friday, September 29th to Sunday, October 1st, from 8 pm until 11 pm nightly. Enjoy live music, performances from some of Australia’s top comedians including the likes of Tripod and Nazeem Hussain, food tasting at The Tasting Plate and more!

Twilight Concert @ Floriade

Friday, 15 September, Commonwealth Park

For the first time ever, experience a twilight concert like no other, with the Canberra Symphony Orchestra teaming up with The Ziggy Band, a David Bowie tribute act. Get amongst the Floriade fun early, and see the festival before it officially opens the next morning, with your tickets allowing you into the gates at 4.30pm. Sing and dance along to your favourite Bowie hits from 5.15pm.

Over three big nights, Canberra’s ultimate red carpet fashion event, FASHFEST, is back for another year from September 28th-30th.
